Proctor Lake, TX

After visiting Oklahoma and Arkansas, we headed to Copperas Creek Park on Proctor Lake in Texas.  We spent four or five days there last year and wanted to go back.  Bill enjoyed the fishing and we met some really nice people we hoped to see again.  We were happy to be able to visit with Bill and Carol Lormis from Minnesota and Tommy and Barbara Matthews from Texas.  We have exchanged phone numbers and e-mail addresses to keep in touch with them.  Bill fishes at both the dam and on fishing docks.  This is a really great Corp of Engineer park.
We were treated to a beautiful sunset the very first night of our week stay.
Bill was fishing on one of the docks.  You can see the second pole he was using sitting on the bench of the table.  In Texas, you can use up to 100 hooks including poles and jug lines.  This is all included in the price of one license.  He caught white bass and crappie.  The man in the red shirt is Tommy Matthews and Bill really enjoys fishing and visiting with him.
Just tinkering with the timer on my camera.  I have had the camera for about 5 years and had never figured out how to use the timer until last year when I mentioned it to our granddaughter, Merry.  Within 30 seconds, she showed me where the timer was on the menu and how to use it.  You know kids these days - technology comes naturally to them.
These clouds were so amazing to see.  The sun was shining behind them and outlined them beautifully.  We suspected a thunderstorm from these clouds but we didn't expect the midnight storm that seemed to be right on top of us.  We had thunder and lightning as well as a downpour of rain for about an hour while we were safe and warm in our trailer.
Just outside this campground is a small, local restaurant.  Country Pickin's is its name.  We enjoyed a full meal deal both times we have been in the area.  The lunch special we had this year included bean soup, meatloaf, au gratin potatoes, fried okra, bread and chocolate cake as well as all the tea or coffee you wanted.  The price for the whole meal was $4.00 per person.  The experience of having lunch with the local crowd was worth the price of the meal.
When we left Proctor Lake, we headed for home.  We traveled several days then stopped to go see the Petrifed Forest National Park in Arizona.  After exploring the National Park, we drove three days in a row so we could get to Baker City, OR, to visit Bill's sister, nephew and nice.  More on these stops soon.
